In the great tradition of the '60s teach-in, which was really a preach-in.
Our Marxist group had an open discussion group and touted their "all inclusive, anything goes" format. Dandy. But read the fine print at the asterisk: "must be from a Marxist perspective." LOL!
This would be like the KKK holding a referendum on race: "No to equal rights for blacks!" and then expect advocates of equal rights to appear.
One of the groups attending is the "International Socialist Organization" whose website says:
"The ISO stands in the tradition of revolutionary socialists Karl Marx, V.I. Lenin and Leon Trotsky in the belief that workers themselves--the vast majority of the population--are the only force that can lead the fight to win a socialist society."
It has a branch in Madison, and the ISO's overall goals are:
..."helping to build a number of struggles: the movement to stop war and occupation, fights against racism and anti-immigrant scapegoating, the struggle for women's rights like the right to choose abortion, opposing anti-gay bigotry, and standing up for workers' rights."

Weren't there government sponsored "dialogues on race" back in the nineties? If I remember correctly no one was for school vouchers or against affirmative action.

Hmmm...
I would imagine the socialists are pro-death penalty... their heroes were, in USSR and China. Oh, wait, that was for capitalists and other productive members of society, not murderers.
Nevermind.
Hmmmm. Isn't the ISO a parallel organization to the ANSWER types who support North Korea and are pretty much unreconstructed Stalinists?
And aren't such known for their willingness to accept all kinds of dissenting opinions?
