Okay, now you're just getting weird.

Yeah, I totally don't get it, either.

Asking for respect, but failing to disclose the who, what, when, why, and how.....

Difficult to show respect when you've got an incomplete date base.

But, just that's silly 'ol me, I guess.

Peace, Maxine

Ann reported Monday morning that Gordon Baldwin, a fellow law school faculty member, had just died. From her post:

It is hard to believe he will not always be sitting there in the faculty library, reading the newspaper by the window that looks out on the mall and ready to look up when you say "Hi, Gordon" and have another conversation about life, law, everything.

Ann, I'm sorry for your loss.

"Cheers" and "What ho" were the two idiosyncratic greetings we heard from Gordon, who sat in that chair. Today, someone put that sign on the chair. It is very touching to people in the Law School.

I was struck by this chair, and the chair in the Supreme Court post. Both empty, waiting (yearning?) for someone to sit in them (will anyone ever again?)

I'm sorry. My respectful and sincere condolence to you all on your loss.

"What Ho" -- the comedic greeting for all debonair boulevardiers, see for example Bertie Wooster.
