Amusing. If they're going to remove a bit of slightly scatological vernacular, why replace it with another bit of vernacular, rather than something like [annoyed] or [perturbed]? Maybe they found [blood sucking parasited] a better substite for [urinated]? What is it copy editors do, again?I suppose it makes sense, but the surprising part is that "pissed" isn't quite acceptable in a newspaper story yet. Unless they're feigning surprise at "colorful" language accidentally uttered into an open microphone by a public figure? Or is that "reporting on a controversy" rather than "feigning surprise"? Whatever...
"ticked" doesn't describe Clinton's reaction to Chris Wallace's pointed question. But then the WaPo, like most of the MSM, has a knee-jerk compulsion to filter the news for we the illiterati!
Illiterati - luv it! Ha! and I loved Bill's staged wrath too. All that was lacking in that waving hand of his was a wet cigar.
Though I haven't seen the interview (not interested), the stories make him sound more [ticked] than [miffed]. Ceraintly he wouldn't be described as [chafed], [irked], or [noodged].Hazy Dave -- based on my meager research, summarized above, [ticked] is related to the Britishism [tick off] with the same root as a clock tick or a checkmark: late ME tek little touch... See tickle[!].
At WaPo, immediately above their adulterated quote of you, Ann, in Liberal Media:"In an interview, Edsall [a Liberal, ex WaPo Journalist] says the main problem is "an inability [of Liberal Journalists] to empathize with the way many people in red states think and feel" but that it is "possible" for journalists to set aside their views and report fairly."Why would you need to "set aside" your "views" if you were not bigoted to begin with - viewing others, such as "red staters" as inherently different, not equal in personhood or capacities? Such bigotry is only too obvious, and an overt rejection of MLK's dictum.Anyone still wonder why I call the current crop of "Liberals" Faux Liberals? Then they fail to specify your exact terminology, leaving the sky the limit as to what term you actually used. Thereby, not only disproving Edsall's claim as to the ability of Fliberals to set aside views, but furthering the cause of bigotry by suggesting that whatever term you used which they altered to achieve "correctness" must have been really wrong in some basic way - an affront to good people.

One can reasonably question whether such a practice has overstayed its welcome but this is a non-event other than it involving Ann's own words.
Ms. Althouse typed: That doesn't mean his critics aren't right about a lot of things, but there's nothing really wrong with him getting angry like this. I assume a good part of it is that he's angry at himself for the opportunities he can now see he missed." Lemme guess: She voted for him twice :)
How do you feel about them "cleaning it up?" Are you [ticked]?
Well, I didn't vote for him once, so I don't feel his petty, childish, immature, fake temper tantrums are the least bit cute or genuine. It shows the same lack of respect he's always exhibited.Ego-centric as always.Peace, Maxine
That's interesting. I thought "pissed" was allowed now. I remember there was a time before M*A*S*H when "dammit" wasn't allowed, but then Hawkeye kept saying it, so it was allowed."Ass" and "butt" used to not be allowed. They seem to be allowed now. I think it is because of "Hill Street Blues"."Asshole" is almost allowed." I think this is because of "NYPD Blue".It is interesting that "asshole" is almost allowed, because "asshole" means "anus" which is the scientific word for "asshole". It is what people "shit" through and sometimes "hanky-panky".So what's the point? The point is this: Hawkeye, Ann, and Steven Bochco are potty-mouths in the eyes of The Washington Post. I believe this is racist and will boycott them.
Let's start using dingleberries more... it's the tiny paper that clings to the ass hairs when you wipe.Too many dingleberries, not enough calling on it.
From thefreedictionary.com:bowd·ler·izetr.v. bowd·ler·ized, bowd·ler·iz·ing, bowd·ler·iz·es1. To expurgate (a book, for example) prudishly.2.
