Madonna's new look.

I'm getting a lot of traffic to this post from last year about "Madonna's new look." I'm sure it's because people are Googling "Madonna's new look" because she has a new new look. I love the new cut. It's something you could move about wearing in the real world, not like the hairstyle it replaced, the retro Valerie Cherish thing that would require you to have Mickey scampering after you everywhere, touching it up constantly.

As for the new color. Use your judgment. Doing the roots every week could get expensive... and boring.

Apparently, it's just a wig: http://www.perezhilton.com/topics/madonna/it_was_just_a_wig_20060920.php

It's a horsehair wig leftover from last month's "W" magazine photo feature.

And if you don't know what that depicted, lucky you.

Wig or no, it's very unflattering.

Her best was the brunette wicca look. I tired to google a pic but the celeb pages are junk.

I was going to say it looks like a wig, but the article details the cut and the cost, etc. Anyway, the top doesn't look like a normal part. It's all thick like a seam.

My favorite Madonna hairstyle was the one she wore for "Papa Don't Preach."

Weeping Jesus! She looks like a common bar fly.

Generally I think short hair looks good on women, especially older women. Once a woman gets past about 35 or so, long hair just ages them. That said, the new do is awful. It looks a cow chewed off her hair. Madonna is not aging gracefully.

No; the wrong kind of long hair ages them. Look at Lauren Bacall or Helen Mirren. Both of them have had long hair and looked fantastic. And hello, Diana Ross! And Cher... (just kidding on that last one).

But I would contend that there's nothing worse than some severe, helmet-head haircut on a woman to make her look older. Longer hair tends to be softer and I think that helps a woman's features as she gets older. As long as she doesn't have crazy, witch-like strands of gray throughout.

A hairstylist once told me that she could give me to-die-for highlights for $600. $600/ every 3 wks for highlights? Why don't I just develop a cocaine habit? And the kicker is, I was an unemployed college student at the time.

Highlights expensive?

Let's have a sense of perspective here. Madonna has enough cash to pay $1000 a day for highlights for the rest of her life and still leave millions to whatever-the-kid's-name-is.

She's pushing what, 50? Say she has 50 more years of life. 50*365 is roughly 18200 days * $1000/day = $18,200,000 on highlights.

She probably clears that much, after-tax, in a year.

Well, I have no idea what that Madonna article said, because I saw this on the same page:

'Judge told cleaner lover: You're chilli-hot stuff'
An immigration judge has told a court how he started an affair with his Brazilian cleaner who was working in Britain illegally
