Checking out at the supermarket today, I noticed the headline on The Globe.

A dessert for old people.

$10 says quxxo runs with this story. It will now be part of his/its anti-Bush rants.

Ann, I was thinking it sounded like a dessert made from old people.

You should contribute the $10 to Madsen! He's in the middle of a pledge drive.

With news like this:
June 21, 2006 -- "Nevada Democratic gubernatorial candidate Leola McConnell, who revealed that she witnessed George W. Bush perform a homosexual act in Tennessee in 1984, reports that she has received a number of death threats from right-wing extremists."
...he is truly a beacon of light in the fog of the MSM!

From the linked piece:
"The right may be saddled with the embarrassing Ann Coulter, who accused a group of 9/11 widows of being “witches” and “harpies” and enjoying their husbands’ deaths, but the left has to answer for Wayne Madsen, who is sticking by his sensational claim that President George Bush is having an extramarital affair with Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice."

Why must the left answer for its sensationalist idiot while the right need do nothing save exude self-pity for its own disingenuous foam-mouthed rabble-rouser? I think this is just sloppy rhetoric, but still...

Come on Icepick -- everyone knows that Soylent Green is made from old people.

I agree, when I saw Lyndon Larouche (French for "the rouche") come up I was looking for alien probing to come next.

I don't buy the story anyway... Everyone also knows (besides the Soylent Green thing) that Bush hates Black people -- unless the boots were just too much to resist. Bring it on! Let's Roll! Let's go "look for WMD!"

This sets the grounds for a Rice family to claim Bush heritage sometime in the 23rd century. Of course Neil Bush will be the actual father.

Jake,

Take a look at DU sometime and you will immediately know why the left is far worse.

What is it with the insistent and feeble attempts to find a Coulter-counter on the left? There is none. Who the hell is Wayne Madsen?

Since when is extramarital sex in the White House an issue?

Elizabeth: "What is it with the insistent and feeble attempts to find a Coulter-counter on the left? There is none. "

It isn't that there are none, it's that there are none as financially successful. Al Franken and Randi Rhodes have delivered their share of ascerbic rhetoric. James Carville isn't known for his civility. Michael Moore? The problem is, no one can listen for long.

I'm not a Coulter fan, but she does something the left wannabes don't - she sells!

Ah, the schadenfreude of those who remember when impeachable offenses included treason, bribery, high crimes, misdemeanors and blowjobs.

It would indeed be ironic if the subject matter of the referenced tabloid story were to create political problems for the current President Bush, who panders shamelessly to those in the Republican Party who obsess over who sticks what into whom. Perhaps the lesson that this president learned from the Clinton/Lewinsky saga was, for the sake of all that is high and mighty, find a girlfriend who swallows.

Elizabeth said...

John, if "ascerbic" is your criteria, you're not even in the ballpark for Coulter. She's despicable. That she sells is a comment on the people who buy what she's selling.

One of the reasons that this story hasn't had any legs, despite the fact that it was planted into the blogosphere by Hillary's people, is that people who cover Rice understand that she is not stupid enough to destroy her political prospects by becoming the Other Woman and trashing Laura Bush's marriage.

Part of the problem is that Condi is single and that this plant plays to racial stereotypes about single black women-that they are promiscuous. Lefties really want this story to be true (I've been scanning the Left blogosphere about this) because they want revenge for Bubba's exceedingly bad taste with the intern.

It ain't so. Were it so, Laura wouldn't be seen anywhere near Condi. Yet there she was yesterday, climbing into the same limo with a smiling Rice, all buddy buddy and girl-talkish, in Vienna.

Sometimes, the credulousness of liberals is something to behold.

Jake said...

Chris, who exactly believes this one? It's not exactly all over the "liberal media," as far as I can tell. Maybe because everyone except for Madsen knows it's a completely ridiculous fiction?

Elizabeth said...

Who is taking this seriously? It's inane to attribute any kind of credulousness to "the left"; this is on the order of Aliens Visit the White House. It's tabloid idiocy. It's not about right or left, it's about lunacy.

Elizabeth said...

Well, it ended up in this part of the blogosphere through Ann's being amused by it at the grocery checkout. Is Ann secretly working for Hillary?

Ann Althouse said...

Yeah, who's taking this seriously? I saw it in the checkout line and laughed. Why not take that bat child seriously?

Do you have any evidence of this?

It seems that the answer by the right to outrageous claims in tabloids (which as we well know are journalistic beacons of truth and integrity), is to make outrageous claims of their own, which usually involve the Clintons.

Elizabeth. What are you trying to argue here? Let's be clear. Do you agree or disagree with the proposition that extremists on the left and right act about equally despicably? That's all that's being postulated here.

I'm late to this. No one will ever read what I say. But, come on guys, left and right, this tabloid story is simply humorous. Nothing more or less.

Single black women are not promiscuous. They are very conservative and prudish. I have no idea where this stereotype comes from. But obviously not someone who has tried to bed any single black women recently.

I hate to admit it, but I am Hillary Clinton. I did have my people plant the story. Wish I could write more to explain my motives, but I am helping the North Koreans complete a nuclear missile that can reach California and Satan wants his cookies and mlik before bed.
