Wouldn't it be hilarious if Friedman's article had been hidden behind TimeSelect?

A question for somebody.

I am a paid Sunday NYT subscriber. Does Times Select cost me?

Or do I just need to figure out how to enroll?

Drill Sgt:
I am a weekend subscriber and it gives me free access to Times Select. The signing up process, which involved modifying my existing NYT Online account, was absurd, however. I followed the instructions back when they instituted the program. I did everything, including deleting all cookies, etc., and it never worked. I finally gave up, and went a few months ignoring all Times Select content. Then one day I clicked on a Times Select article on a whim, and it let me view it. And it has worked ever since.

I am sure it will be better in 6 months.

Yet more evidence that the Times doesn't get the internet.

The solution is to have content that people would willingly pay for, a la the Economist or the Wall St Journal. But that would require a wholesale change in the sophistication and depth of their reporting.
