"Just how cheap is the State of Wisconsin?"

Howard Bashman asks.

Is Wisconsin being cheap or is Charles County Missouri? Unless Wisconsin is routinely getting reimbursement from the states to which it is extraditing prisoners, I'm not sure I see cheapness, but rather admirable frugality.

I'm frankly surpised that anyone is bothered over this amount considering wisconsin's budget deficit is in the billions.

If the states are not adding up costs incurred in extraditing prisoners around the country, they should be. At the end of the year each state should tally up the costs and determine who owes who how much.

The Sheriff in Umatilla, Oregon, around Pendleton, just sent Mexico's Fox a bill for the prisoners incarcerated in his jail.

Although he has zero chance of recovering these costs, it does put the spotlight on the problem of detaining criminals and illegal aliens.

I am going to take a wild guess and say Wisconsin spent much more than $5000 in litigating this case...

Perhaps Charles County forgot to make a well timed donation to the appropriate campaign account. . .
