What board game did you play today?

We played this:

Kurt Pursuit

UPDATE: The game is a special 90s version of Trivial Pursuit. Question that came up yesterday: "What outfit, after investing 20 years and $20 million, stopped using psychics to gather info?" Answer: the CIA. I don't remember that. It seems awfully strange.

We played Sequence.

What game is that? With the groovy guitar player in the lotus position, It looks like Trippy Pursuit.

I'm hiding in the cool back bedroom and surfing because everyone wants a Christmas fire, even though it's 40 degrees.

And once again, Merry Christmas to everyone.

"Operation" begins in about 2 hours.

Classic Operation -- not the Homer Simpson version (though I have nothing against Homer, et al.)

A blessed Christmas to everyone

I'm guessing your musician son got the musician piece, but which piece was Prof. Althouse, the coffee cup?.

And it's too early for 90s nostalgia.

Also since I'm on the West Coast haven't even left for the Aunt and Uncle's house to gather and eat, let alone play games.

(Though in the past my family has demonstrated themselves to be more of a UNO/Pinochle group rather than Trivia games (which I would crush all my relatives in, oh well))

XWL: You are right! The other son got stuck being the PDA!

What First Lady did Hillary Clinton tap into for advice at "seances," according to Bob Woodward?

I played a few dozen frustrating games of chess. But since I played online, does it really count as a board game?

Whoa,... do people still play boardgames? Or give them as gifts?

I've only played chess of late, but not today. In a miraculous mood shift, Christmas picked up and things got cheery since last night. It's amazing how much joy is right there, and waiting for your brain to join it, and you need only decide to embrace it.

Finn, where do you play? And I just noticed that you have Master and Margarita listed as a favorite. I don't know any chess-player that's read that that HASN'T proclaimed it a favorite. I'm going to have to get around to reading that someday, although I seem to be done with fiction.

The Allman Brothers Board Game?

I played the same game! woh!

Oh, liar. You did not.

I was the cappucino however.

Okay, maybe you did. This is far too cryptic to make up.

A bit like Harriet Miers' resume.

Victoria

I collect classic board games, especially Monopoly (there's one in Esperanto I'm dying to own).

However, in time-honoured tradition, we British play charades after our Christmas dinner.

Whilst wearing funny pointy hats, obviously.

But if you want to know what I did after my turkey dinner (which was actually glazed ham this time), you need only go to my blog to find out.

I'm going to email Ann with the link, since it resembles my now-infamous Hollywood "Faces" post.

TV rawks!

Cheers,
Victoria

Brylin: I got that Hillary Clinton question. Amusing to remember that. If only I'd been blogging back in the 90s!

Is this the "Kurt, Kurt run away from Courtney as fast as you can!" game? What irony that he's going in circles...

Hey, who got the Lewinsky dress piece?

and when they do the game of this decade...who gets the shoe bomb?

reader_iam said...

No doubt the board game for this decade will be heavy on pieces representing ... Xbox and Playstation games, computer games, etc.

Does anyone play bridge anymore?

; (

It looks David St. Hubbins from Spinal Tap!

The most obvious game piece of this decade will be the iPod...

Come on, Reader_Iam. Bridge sucks.

It's hard to follow, complicated, and one person out of the 4 gets to sit around watching the others play.

Apropos to nothing, does anyone go to orgies anymore? ;(

Cheers,
Victoria

I wonder what the WiFi and Bluetooth pieces will look like?

More people than you'd expect still do.

Just nobody you'd really wish ever to think about engaging in such activity.

(line from user review, "the horror, the horror")

(this post in reference to Victoria's musing "Apropos to nothing, does anyone go to orgies anymore? ;(")

Only in Canada!

Ugh. Worst version of Trivial Pursuit I've ever played. Essentially, whoever rolled to go first won. Questions were too easy.

I dunno, I guess I don't like games that ask "were you paying attention to the nineties for the sake of paying attention to the nineties?"
